$10 can purchase vitamins & supplements to boost the immune system
$25 buys a gas card for transportation to and from doctor visits
$40 can help with groceries, medical or prescription co-pay
$60 to $100 can pay an overdue light bill, water bill or other bill
$125 to $500 to help with car repairs, buy heating oil or purchase lymphedema garments
$500 or more can provide assistance with basic living needs and extend a helping hand to a WNC neighbor in need!

Our Story
A diagnosis of Cancer can be physically and emotionally devastating to any woman. The added financial burden that comes with treatment can be too much for a woman and her family to bear.
The Hope Chest for Women provides financial assistance for women in Western NC with breast or gynecologic cancer who are experiencing economic difficulties due to treatment costs.
Simple things can make a big difference. Spending money on cancer patients’ most basic needs can eliminate barriers to care. Cancer patients can focus on treatment out-of-pocket costs if their basic needs are covered first.
40% of the women we serve are considered “working class” and have jobs, health insurance and live above the poverty level. Complications from their cancer treatment can leave them physically drained and temporarily unable to work. Unfortunately, they are unable to qualify for assistance from other sources.
The Hope Chest relies heavily on donations and contributions to provide support to women in our community who have demonstrated economic necessity. These donations allow us to help cover gas money, assist with rent/mortgage payments, buy groceries, pay overdue utility bills, provide medical copay assistance for prescriptions and doctor bills and other critical life needs.
Every dollar donated to fund our WNC Hope Chest for Women program stays in WNC!
